With all the crap techno (I'm looking at you Black Eyed Peas), lame mash-up artists (Girltalk), and poor remixes out there, I can see why electronic music is taking a while to become more popular. Have no fear, as I (with my incredible taste in music) am here to steer you towards the good stuff. Updated whenever I find something that catches my eye.

    New Language

The newest track from Porter Robinson, Language, just was released today!  The song is great: slow and melodic in the build up, with an energetic drop and sweet middle, building up to a finish that will have you clicking the repeat button multiple times for sure.  Can’t wait to see him live again.  Until then though, volume up and chair dancing engaged.

    Ahhhhh!!!!!

Such a great fucking night!!!  Went to see Feed Me and Kill the Noise at Royale in Boston…amazing show.  Kill the Noise did just that; straight up killed his set.  Got super excited when he dropped this song, Dill the Noise (a collab between him and one of my all-time favorites, Dillon Francis).  Crowd went insane, and I think I pogo’d higher than I ever have before.  I’ve got the leg cramps to prove it.  Great, great night.

And now for something completely different

Often on the forefront of the newest musical craze or trend, here comes Diplo once again.  I don’t even know how to begin categorizing what genre this falls into…dancehall/bounce/electro/lazerz?  Regardless, give it a listen.  Dude’s creativity can’t be denied.  Great producer and musician.  If you’re a fan of twerking or fat booty, the video is a good time too.

    Talk About Fitting Vocals

Sue Cho comes through big on this collab with Revolvr, an up-and-coming artist who’s definitely going to have a great career if he keeps this up.  Good music to get your Saturday afternoon started.

    Get On My Level

If you’re a fan of Khalifa’s lyrics, or simply like rap set to killer background music, this is one for you.  Deathstar remixed On My Level with some melow dub that compliments the lyrics well.  Simple and effective.

    Oh, Ellie

Something about this girl’s voice is simply perfect.  If you haven’t heard of her before, you need to get on YouTube and spend some time listening to her songs.  Chop those beautiful original vocals up a bit and add them over dubstep, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for success.  SubVibe took that to heart and produced this great remix of Starry Eyed.  Hump day work music engaged!

  7.

    Jump On It

Woot for Zed’s Dead using this song in one of their mixes.  This is a fun remix of the song Pony by Ginuwine…which is a song you should definitely have heard before.  Speeds it up a bit and gives a little dubstep flair, which is always a good thing.  It’s got some good deep bass in it so put it at 720, turn up your sub, and get at it!

    Valentine’s Day!

Have to have a song that fits then, right?  Whether you’re foreveralone.jpg or have someone to spend today with, you always need good music.  Here’s a track by Fedde Le Grand that’s definite club material.  Here’s to chocolates, flowers, and overly sentimental displays of affection.

    You Hungry?

Well, Feed Me has a new 6 track EP out called Escape from Electric Mountain, and it’s quite tasty.  His sound is kind of like a middle ground between Skrillex (listen to One Click Headshot) and Deadmau5 (listen to Trichitillomania).  They are all definitely worthy of a listen.  As my last couple posts have been more chill tracks, I opted for one to give you some bass-face. http://www.beatport.com/release/feed-mes-escape-from-electric-mountain/867302 for full track listing and purchase if you wish.  But who are we kidding, this is the internet: you’re going to pirate that shit…argh matey.

    Ugh, Monday

In light of recent sporting event disasters that shall remain nameless, and it being a Monday, I feel like a good song is a necessity.  Butch Clancy fits the bill here.  This track is a remix of the popular song “The Funeral” by Band of Horses.  It starts slow and with the same feel, but around the 1:10 mark, watch out for the dub.  It’s a great remix of the original in my opinion, and definitely worth a listen.

    Late Night Update

Trolling around on Soundcloud, as usual, and I stumbled across this track.  If you’re a fan of Kid Cudi’s vocals/lyrics you will definitely be a fan of this one. It’s short but sweet.  It will be rocking me to sleep right about meow.  Goodnight moon.

Falling Star (R3K) Remix) - KiD Cudi ft. Florence & the Machine

    More Adventures

Adventure Club seriously makes tracks that I just want to chill to.  Perfect walking around music, too.  A new release from the two man group, “Do I See Color” delivers the same chopped vocals and smooth bass that they are notorious for.  A nice break from the drop-fest that is a lot of dubstep these days.  Sorry, bro.

    NEW RUSKO INC!

AHHH!  Rusko is dropping a new album “Songs” on the 27th!  This is a single from said album, titled Somebody to Love.  Can’t wait to put on my WAKE THE FUCK UP shirt and rock out to this one (like the old guy in the video).  Don’t know how he does it…dude is just a legend.  All his songs are just killer.  Listen and enjoy.

    Bassnectar Explains Dubstep

No music here, but if you want to learn some very base differences between electronic music genres, here’s a quick video of Lorin Ashton breaking it down.

    Bored at Home = Music

And who better than Mr. Calvin Harris.  He’s become a lot more popular recently, collabing with big names like Rihanna (blech), but it’s for good reason.  I saw him front row for a bit down in MD at Virgin Mobile Free Fest (at least until some dude ripped down a tree branch and was swinging it around hitting us) and it was a great time.  This song, Awooga, is one of his singles from 2011 which will probably end up on his forthcoming 2012 album.  Listen and check out his other stuff too.
